When undertaking hedge removal, we can remove above ground parts of the hedge and treat the stumps to prevent regrowth if required. We can remove the hedge including the roots even with limited access due our range of stump grinders.
New hedges require formative pruning for their first couple of years after planting. Formative pruning is usually carried out in winter or early spring.
After this, maintenance trimming is carried out, usually once a year for informal hedges and twice a year for formal hedges. Some formal hedges may need three cuts a year. Maintenance trimming is generally carried out between spring and summer.
When trees are felled or fall, their stumps should be removed to prevent suckering and fungal root rots. Although often large and heavy, stumps can be removed with the right equipment and technique, or removed by weedkiller.
Completely dead stumps won't form suckers (where new shoots arise from the trunk and roots), but they can play host to root diseases such as honey fungus, so aren't worth leaving in and taking the risk.
Felling a tree is the process of causing a tree to fall down in a professional and safe practice. The process can be completed by means of cutting with a chainsaw, sawing with a handsaw, or chopping with a felling axe.
Tree felling can be an extremely dangerous job which is why preparation is crucial. Before you begin, it’s imperative that you plan ahead to know exactly which pieces of equipment the task at hand requires for safety, as well as performance.
Tree topping is the practice of cutting back all the large tree branches at random positions to make them shorter.
Tree topping is often sold to the homeowner as a way of reducing the size of the tree, opening up the view, and increasing the safety of a home.
You should note that after topping, the tree quickly grows back to its original size. It also tends to lose its original shape.
The alternative to tree topping is proper tree pruning, which we would recommend over topping.
Tree pruning relates to the removal from a plant of dead or diseased branches. This protects other crops from being harmed by the damaged branches and can also prevent the disease from spreading to the remainder of the tree. This method should never stop the tree from growing but should encourage future development. Trees should be pruned annually, generally after the blooming cycle, as in the following year the method may boost fruit and flowers output.
